Surfactants are the active cleaning agents in most detergents. Two of the most widely used are LABSA and SLES. Here is what manufacturers need to know when buying them.
LABSA (Linear Alkylbenzene Sulphonic Acid)
LABSA is an anionic surfactant used as the primary active in powder and liquid detergents and dishwashing products. It is typically supplied at around 96% in drums or IBC.
SLES (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulphate)
SLES is a milder anionic surfactant used in dishwashing liquids, shampoos and personal care, valued for its foaming. It is commonly supplied at 70% (concentrated) or 28% (ready-diluted).
